Boxxle 3: Online is a Flash remake of the original Boxxle games that were released on the Nintendo GameBoy. Boxxle 3: Online has all the features of the original games but, doesn't stop there. Boxxle 3 allows you to design your own Boxxle Levels and save it on the Boxxle 3 Server. Other people will be able to play your level. If he/she manages to beat your level, the amount of Steps that it took will be uploaded into the high score list. The high score system will keep track of both personal and level records. Creating a level is very easy thanks to the Flash Boxxle level editor. The level editor provides 2 grid sizes, 26x15 and 20x12, this way smaller levels will be saved in a smaller format. I did this to save space on our server and to make sure that smaller levels aren't surrounded by lots of empty space. After creating a level it's mandatory to beat it yourself. That way no impossible levels get added to the database. In order to play and create levels you have to sign up first. Visitors that weren't registered or logged in can only play the demo levels. When you want to play all the user uploaded levels and create your own levels you'd have to be registered. Registration was free of course. The Boxxle 3 member accounts were linked to the Boxxle.net Forums. Registering at the forums would also grant you access to all of the Boxxle 3 content. Next to that, your Boxxle 3 scores and levels were also displayed in your forum profile. I started this project along with the founder of TerraEarth, Boxxleman. I did most of the technical work and he tested everything, made suggestions and helped me run the site once it was up. Boxxle 3: Online was hosted on Boxxleman's website Boxxle.net. After a few months he decided that the visitor rate wasn't enough to keep running and the website was disabled. I can't say I disagree with him, visitor rates were pretty bad. The fact that I entered "Temporarily discontinued" as status for this project does indeed indicate that I wish to continue this project some day. When exactly this will be and if it will be in the Boxxle style is another matter.
Update: Boxxleman and myself have started on Boxxle: Online again. That's the new title. There is no due date unfortunately, everything is being built from scratch. Check the demo link for updates! Visit the demo website
