Flare's Cube was my personal website before Just Like Ed. Completly made in Flash and obviously inspired by the Nintendo Gamecube's internal OS.

Flare's Cube was one of the few websites that I completely created in Flash. It wasn't my best Flash work, I can tell you that. It was the first project I did with a 3D object in Flash, so it didn't get a good as I wanted to to be. The music isn't all that good either. It was pretty hard to find the exact music from the Gamecube menu. All I could get was this very low quality sample. But it sure does add a nice feeling to the whole floating cube. The cube had 5 viewable sides to it, just like the Gamecube menu. The front side was sort of an index, leading to the other sides. Visitors can navigate to the other sides of the cube by clicking one of the arrows, or pressing the appropriate arrow key on their keyboard. Toons side The top side was the toons side. The still existing titles Duct Tape, Tam Tam and Got Milk? could be found on this side of the cube. A toon would open in a popup when the visitor clicked the icon. Game side The left side was the game side. The game side contained the games Magic Numbers, Kirby Star and Mario's Shoe Mania. I made a little highscore indicator for games with highscores. However space was limited on a floating cube, so it just go crowded. Quotes side To the right there was the quotes side. I always had a thing for quotes, I am a walking quote dictionary. So I had a little quote archive on my site. The most recently added quote was shown on the right side of the cube, upon clicking the archive button a detailed page would appear in front of the cube with the rest of the quotes. Artwork side The non existing side on the bottom. There was nothing on this side... I'm not a very artistic person.
The site wasn't all that much trouble to update, it was just a little crude. A nice concept but, I didn't have enough 3D experience back then to create such a website. Visit the archived website
