Strip Dir started out as a small project that I did to ease the pain that was viewing open directories. An open directory (open dir for short) is one of those "Index of /img/" pages, where the webmaster was to lazy to create a decent index page and you simply see a list of all files in a folder (directory.) There were a couple of systems out there, but none of them really did a good job. You had to enter lots of details, image ranges, prefixes, suffixes... in short; to much work. That's why I created Strip Dir. Strip Dir only requires that you specify the URL where the images can be found. This can be an open dir but, it can also be an average website. When you enter the URL and hit the Strip! button, Strip Dir opens up the page and checks the HTML code for images. Every image that is found will be displayed fully on the result page that Strip Dir generates for you. The result page contains all images that were found on the webpage you specified in it's full size. That way you save the trouble of clicking links or thumbnails in order to see the image. To the right you can see an example of Strip Dir's result page when I entered the Microsoft website. At first Strip Dir was just a tool to detect and display images. Now it comes fully with an archive of what other people used Strip Dir for. Every URL that Strip Dir checked is entered into a database. The URLs from this database are available though several pages. Good examples are the "Most Recent 100" and "Best viewed 100." Although Strip Dir can be used for virtually any website, at the moment it's mainly being used to view adult material. I can't blame people, it's pretty much what the web is for nowadays. Or so it would seem. I have some plans to upgrade the Strip Dir engine in the near future but, all that depends on the amount of free time I have to work on it. But version 4 of Strip Dir is a sure thing! Visit the project website
